Why

Why do you need a Google Shopping Audit?

Is a messy product feed quietly draining your Google Shopping and Performance Max spend?

Have Paul read your feed, Merchant Center status, and Shopping structure the way Google does — to surface the disapprovals, feed gaps, and PMax leaks holding back profitable, SKU-level growth.

The Feed Is the Campaign

Most DTC brands don't have a Shopping problem. They have a product feed problem.

Shopping has no keywords. Google reads your product feed and decides which searches you show up for, at what price, against which competitor. So when your Shopping spend leaks — and for most accounts, it leaks — the cause isn’t the bidding. It’s a feed full of thin titles, missing identifiers, and products Merchant Center quietly disapproved weeks ago. You’re paying to compete with half your catalog on the bench.

Then Performance Max makes it harder to see. Left on autopilot, PMax eats your branded searches and reports them as new revenue, so the ROAS column looks fine while your real, incremental return slides. You can’t tell which SKUs actually pay and which ones are burning budget, because nobody built the reporting to show you.

That’s the account most Google Shopping agencies inherit and never fix. They run Shopping like it’s Search, check the ROAS column, and never open Merchant Center.

We’re a Google Shopping agency that starts where the money actually leaks: the feed, the Merchant Center account, and the campaign structure feeding Performance Max. Here’s how we do it.

Built for Margins

Google Shopping Ads Management, Built for DTC Margins

A good Shopping account and a great one are separated by contribution margin, not clicks. We manage Google Shopping ads for eCommerce brands the way an operator would: bids set to the ROAS your margins can actually carry, budget concentrated on the SKUs that clear a profit, and the low-margin products that quietly drain spend pulled back or repriced in the feed.

That's the difference a real Google Shopping ads agency makes. The scoreboard is your contribution-margin number at the end of the month, on spend you can defend to your CFO. We run Shopping, Performance Max, and the feed underneath both as one system, alongside our broader eCommerce Google Ads management.

What We Fix

What a Google Shopping Agency Actually Fixes

Three things decide whether Google Shopping makes money. A Google Shopping agency earns its retainer on all three — most only touch the last one.

Product Feed Optimization

Shopping has no keyword bids to hide behind. Your product feed is the campaign, and Google matches a shopper’s search to your product titles and attributes — not to anything you typed into Ads Manager. So we rebuild the feed as the primary lever: titles front-loaded with the attributes people search (brand, product type, key spec, color, size), valid GTINs and MPNs so your products are eligible at all, the right product taxonomy, competitive pricing, and clean images. Then we tier every SKU with custom labels so bids and budget follow the products that earn them, not a blanket setting.

Merchant Center Suspensions & Disapprovals

A disapproved product doesn’t warn you — it just stops showing, and your spend piles onto the SKUs that are left. Worse is an account-level suspension for misrepresentation, which pulls your whole catalog off Shopping at once. We work Merchant Center as its own discipline: clearing item-level disapprovals (price mismatches, missing GTINs, image policy, restricted terms), fixing the account-wide triggers most brands trip without knowing — no visible return and shipping policy, no clear contact info, checkout that doesn’t match the ad — and running the appeal when a suspension has already hit. Products that can’t show can’t sell, however good your bids are.

Performance Max for Retail

Performance Max for a retail account is only as good as the feed and the guardrails you give it. PMax pulls from the same Merchant Center feed, so feed quality drives it more than any asset you upload. Left alone, it does two things that flatter the numbers and hurt the business: it claims your branded searches as fresh conversions, and it hides which products and placements actually drove sales. We build PMax for retail deliberately — asset groups and listing groups split by product tier, a brand exclusion list so it stops eating traffic you’d win for free, search themes to steer it, and reporting that pulls back the SKU and placement data Google would rather keep in the box.

Most of this is invisible until someone audits the feed. We'll do it free.

Process

Our Google Shopping Management Process

  1. Feed & Merchant Center Audit

We start with a full read of your feed health, Merchant Center status, Shopping and PMax structure, and SKU-level profitability — the same free audit below, run before we ever touch a bid.

  2. Feed Rebuild

We fix titles, identifiers, taxonomy, images, and pricing signals, then tier every SKU with custom labels so budget can follow margin.

  3. Campaign Architecture

Shopping structured by product tier, Performance Max built with brand exclusions and clean asset groups, brand and non-brand kept separate so Smart Bidding learns from honest signals.

  4. Margin-Aware Bidding

Target ROAS set to your real contribution margin and AOV, not a vanity number — and we exclude the audiences that would have converted without an ad, so you pay for incremental sales.

  5. Reporting & Iteration

Every campaign and ad pipes into MKOS.AI, the proprietary platform we built to run the agency — it keeps per-SKU, per-day history the ad platforms age out, computes the metrics that matter, and flags what to scale, fix, or kill. You see the same numbers we do, and we act on them weekly.

What

What's Covered in the Free Google Shopping Audit?

Feed Health

Titles, identifiers, taxonomy, images, and pricing signals graded against what Shopping actually rewards.

Merchant Center Status

Every item-level disapproval and any account-level risk surfaced, with the fixes ranked by how much traffic they unlock.

Shopping & PMax Structure

Whether your campaign build gives Google clean signals — or lets Performance Max cannibalize Shopping and brand search.

Bidding & ROAS

Bids checked against your real margins and AOV, plus the spend going to products that can’t clear a profit.

Negative & Brand Separation

Branded searches you’re overpaying Performance Max for, and the exclusions that stop it.

SKU-Level Profitability

Which products actually pay, which quietly lose money, and where budget should move.

Every audit is a live Zoom walkthrough of your feed and account — ask questions as we go, and keep the recording. We also run performance creative and paid social for eCommerce brands, as part of broader DTC growth — and if you're comparing shops, here's how to evaluate a Google Ads agency.

FAQ

Google Shopping Agency FAQ

Our management retainer starts at $6K/month with a $20K/month minimum ad spend — the Shopping and Performance Max accounts we manage run $250K to $1M+ per month. Pricing is a flat retainer, never a percentage of spend. If that stage doesn’t fit yet, take the free Shopping audit anyway: you’ll leave with a prioritized feed and Merchant Center fix list either way.

Product feed optimization first, because the feed is the campaign — titles, identifiers, taxonomy, images, and pricing signals. Then Merchant Center health (clearing disapprovals and suspension risk), Shopping and Performance Max structure built by product tier with brand exclusions, margin-aware target-ROAS bidding, and reporting tied to SKU-level profit instead of a vanity ROAS number.

Usually a mismatch Google can see and you can’t: the price or availability in your feed doesn’t match your landing page, a GTIN is missing or wrong, the image breaks policy, or the product page lacks a clear return, shipping, or contact policy. Item-level disapprovals silently pull single products; account-level misrepresentation suspensions pull your whole catalog at once. We fix the triggers and run the appeal when a suspension has already landed.

Standard Shopping shows your products on the Shopping tab and search results with more control and clearer reporting. Performance Max uses the same Merchant Center feed but also runs across YouTube, Display, Gmail, and search — with far less visibility into where spend goes. PMax can win incremental reach, but left unguarded it cannibalizes your branded searches and hides which SKUs performed. We run both, with a brand exclusion list and reporting that pulls back the data PMax would rather keep in the box.

Yes — it’s the first thing we touch and the highest-leverage work in the account. Shopping has no keywords, so Google matches searches to your feed, not to bids. We rebuild titles around the attributes shoppers actually search, fix identifiers and taxonomy so products are eligible, tighten pricing and image quality, and tier every SKU with custom labels so budget follows margin. Most of the Shopping ROAS we recover comes from the feed, not from the bid strategy.
